Fragments of Neon Solitude

Fragments of Neon Solitude

Japan

An older man with a bare chest reclines on a sloping stone embankment in the sun while the shadow of a chain-link fence fills the foreground.

Attention begins quietly. Nothing dramatic happens. The world simply stops being background. Small gestures start to feel intentional. Presence appears before meaning.. Japan taught me that solitude is a public act. These images were made across Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto — mostly through glass. Train windows, shop fronts, vending machine light. People existing inside noise without making any.
